My daughter gets really excited for her experience with the field trips. The last week of program she went to The Challenge Center and Six Flags. Both experiences were both a learning experience and fun. She came home able to talk about her feelings and disappointment at the Challenge Center. She wasn't able to move across the last high beam walk at The Challenge Center which made her disappointed, she came home and talked about her emotions, labeling them: being upset with herself, being jealous of others that could, and then providing herself with positive affirmations about trying again next time. So every good SEL opportunity in learning about herself. She loved the Dolphin show at Six Flags and was a great way to wrap up her Summer Matters programming.
What stood out was her ability to learn more about herself and cope through feelings that made her upset and end with positive thoughts. It was a good learning experience that she was able to share with me as her parent to continue promote self love and teaching her to give herself grace. I appreciated it as a parent.
